Randy Tracey, Operations/Facility Manager at Aevitas in Ayr, ON, has organized this fundraising event for the past 5 years. Our 2025 event involved 31 players and 18 non-playing supporters from various industries and companies in the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge area, including 8 Aevitas employees. Everyone had lots of fun on the ice and were extremely proud to support this very worthwhile cause. The event took place at the North Dumfries Community Centre in Ayr, ON, on Remembrance Day.
“I started this tradition to bring the team together for a few hours, enjoy the freedoms that were fought for, and strengthen our sense of community”, said Tracey. He added, “For me, it’s about remembering the servicemen and women who sacrificed so much. My uncle served in WWII and was a casualty, my father was drafted but didn’t see battle, and my brother is a Navy veteran who served in the Gulf War. It’s always a meaningful day to reflect, celebrate our freedoms, and wear a poppy with pride.”
Thanks to everyone’s incredible support this year, Aevitas raised and amazing $1,825.00 for the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. Total donations to the Poppy Fund over the past 5 events have exceeded $6500.
The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund supports Canadian veterans, serving military members, and their families through financial assistance for needs like food, housing, and medical expenses. It also funds programs for veteran transition, education, and community services, and supports cadet units and Remembrance activities.
