“As many families in our community face food insecurity, I wanted to do something to help,” says Jay Sherlock, Director of Operations at Aevitas Insulating Oil Division.
Motivated by the growing need in the communities we serve, Jay took action by launching the 1st Annual Aevitas Adams Blvd Holiday Food Drive. He invited everyone at the facility to participate, by sharing an inspirational message with his colleagues:
“By participating in this food drive, you are not only raising food for the food bank, but you are also helping raise awareness of the issue of food insecurity in our community. Let’s work together to fight hunger.”
Challenge accepted. Employees were provided with a list of the most-needed and special-diet items, and a designated donation area was set up at the Brantford facility from December 1 to December 12. The response was immediate and generous, with team members coming together to support families in need during the holiday season.
When other Aevitas facilities learned about this food drive initiative, they wanted to be part of it too. The challenge quickly expanded company-wide, with all locations encouraged to support their local food banks by bringing non-perishable donations to their holiday events.
The result? Aevitas employees collectively donated over 234 kilograms of food and needed products to food banks across the country — the equivalent of feeding a family of four for 43 days.
Through teamwork and community spirit, Aevitas employees demonstrated that small actions can collectively create a meaningful impact.
