Chemical Shipping and Receiving Technician – Edmonton

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

We are currently recruiting for a Chemical Shipping and Receiving Technician to work out of our Edmonton, Alberta Facility. This is a full-time, permanent position with a total compensation plan including:

Responsibilities

  • Determine waste classification and characterization; ensure waste samples obtained and analyzed for incoming and outgoing material
  • Ensure materials are packaged in proper containers, proper shipping documents are prepared and labelled in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Stage materials for shipping; consolidate load fragments; weigh and label materials; prepare necessary documentation
  • Count, weigh and measure incoming and outgoing materials; compare identifying information against manifests, bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; identify and communicate discrepancies
  • Follow and comply with all environmental health and safety procedures and regulations
  • Load and unloading from trucks, ensuring load is secured according to, or exceeding standards
  • Other related duties as directed.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required including forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies

Qualifications/Abilities

  • Technical certificate or diploma in chemistry or related discipline
  • One to two years experience working as a shipper/receiver
  • Knowledge of chemical and waste management and TDG an asset
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic
  • Class 5 Driver’s License (there is limited public transportation in the area)
