Aevitas Employees Make a Big Difference During the Summer Hunger Gap

When schools close for July and August, many children lose access to school breakfast and lunch programs. At the same time, donations to food banks typically decline, creating what is known as the Summer Hunger Gap.

This summer, Aevitas employees across the company came together to support local families facing food insecurity during one of the most challenging times of the year.

To help meet this need, Aevitas launched a company-wide Summer Hunger Gap Challenge, encouraging employees to donate non-perishable food items between July 13 and July 17. To celebrate the event, every facility also hosted a BBQ lunch, giving employees an opportunity to connect while supporting a great cause.

The response from our team was incredible.

Together, Aevitas employees donated 591 kilograms (over half a tonne) of non-perishable food, benefiting eight local food banks in the communities where we live and work. To further support these organizations, Aevitas also donated $250 to each food bank, providing a total of $2,000 to help purchase fresh and perishable food items.

“Many children and families will benefit from your kindness and compassion. Your willingness to give demonstrates the caring spirit that makes our team so special. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this initiative such a tremendous success. Together, we have made a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
